Over the years, I’ve grown to have some firm favourite products and accessories that I now simply could not live without. For any Eventer preparing for competitions, maintaining your horse’s appearance and health in the lead up is so important so here are my top 5 products that would be lost without!

1. Purple Shampoo

Ok, first thing first. I have a grey horse who loves to get dirty and has made a particularly bad habit of doing so when he needs to be clean, so purple shampoo has been an absolute life saver for me! Without it, I would be riding a multi-coloured horse instead of a grey one…! Some of the best brands not only get rid of all the dirt, but also smell great and can leave the coat with a smooth glossy finish.

2. Mane ‘n’ tail

Mane ‘n’ Tail is a must buy for me. It makes their tails so much easier to brush through which can otherwise take an age! This is such a quick and easy win for me, that I would recommend it to every rider out there!

3. Activo-Med rug

This is a combined magnetic and massage full body rug for the horses. The difference after they have it on is truly amazing. I love using it after travelling to make sure they aren’t sore from long journeys and before the dressage to get them as loose as possible.

4. Wellies

Wellies! Seems like such an obvious one but with our sport mostly taking place fields which have the potential to be incredibly muddy, you don’t want to be caught without them. The consequences of risking it can be a week spent with wet feet, and nobody wants that! I have a few different pairs that I alternate between, but I’m always on the look out for my next pair.

5. Velcro numbers

These literally revolutionized my competing life! They make it so much easier to put numbers on numnahs for the dressage, without looking scruffy. Gone are the days of sewing on the numbers!
